WC ninth grade girl’s and boy’s basketball team defeated VHS on Monday

Warren Central High School ninth grade boy’s and girl’s basketball team gained victories over Vicksburg’s freshman squad on Monday night.

In the girl’s game, the Lady Vikes came away with a 42-20.

The Missy Gators got on the board first but WC still managed to take the 11-8 lead by the end of the first quarter. By halftime, the Lady Vikes extended their lead to 18-11 as they would stay ahead for the rest of the night.

Gerarslynn Hicks led WC with 15 points, followed by Shay Hodges who added 14.

Akeria Barnes led VHS with nine points while Bri Nabors put up six.

A big third quarter would help WC run away with the win.

Ka’Mya Jones contributed seven points for WC before the night was over.

Boy’s game:

The Vikings got a big 51-11 win over the Gators last night.

DeCorey Knight, Jr. popped things off in the first quarter with a 3-pointer. Both he and Maddox Lynch led the team with 13 points.

By halftime, WC had a big lead with the help of Jaylon Winters who added eight points on the board, while Cietrich Russell and Roosevelt Harris who both scored five points.

Jakobe Smith and Dennis Battle both led VHS with four points a piece.
