WC opened their season with a 54-44 win over Olive Branch on Saturday

Warren Central High School girl’s basketball team opened up their season with a 54-44 win over Olive Branch on Saturday.

The Lady Vikes took a 14-11 lead in the first quarter with much help from Kayleigh Karel who knocked down two 3-pointers.
By halftime, WC was up 26-22 as Bre McDowell and Jae’la Smith made some key shots.
Coming out of halftime, the Lady Vikes’ defense showed out as Olive Branch only made a few shots in the third quarter. Smith and Zion Harvey both pitched in multiple points in the third quarter to give WC a 46-31 lead.
The Lady Vikes maintained their lead throughout the rest of the night and finished with the 54-44 win.
Smith led with 14 points and six rebounds and Harvey added 11 with three rebounds while Karel dropped 10 points. McDowel snatched eight rebounds and put up seven points and Ta’Mya Sims contributed five points.
WC is now 1-0 under first year Head Coach Pooh Robinson. They will host Jim Hill on Tuesday.
