WC Swim Team are the North State Champions

The Warren Central High School boys and girls swim team is the North State Champions after Saturday’s meet. The Vikings brought in 252 combined points with 135 coming from the men and 117 from the women.

Avery Greer came in first place in both the 100-yard free and the 200-yard IM. She teamed up with Addison Billings, Kara Rowe, and Ella Opperman to finish on top in the 200-yard medley and the 400-yard free.

Billings came in the top spot in the 200-yard free and second in the 500-yard free. Rowe contributed 15 points as she won the 100-yard fly while Opperman earned second place in the 200-yard free.

On the boy’s side, Ashtin Wallace nabbed first place in the 100-yard fly and the 200-yard IM. He teamed up with James McKenna, Ace Orosco, and Jacob Byrd to take first place in the 200-yard Medley. McKenna, Byrd, Wallace, and Thomas Kilroy all finished on top in the 400-yard free.

Orosco earned first place in the 100-yard breast and got third place in both the 200 and 100-yard free. McKenna took second place in the 100-yard back while Kilroy came in third in the 50 and 200-yard free.

Saturday’s swim meet was held at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi where the Vikings showed up and took over the show. They will now move on to fight for a state championship in just a couple of weeks as the swim season will soon come to an end.

The State Championship meet will be in Tupelo on October 19. The Vikings are led by Head Coach Terry Wong.
