Warren Central High School’s baseball team faced Northwest Rankin’s high-powered offense on Friday and took a 19-9 loss.

The Vikings had a productive first inning when Seth Sterling doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run. WC took a 5-2 lead by the end of the first.

The Cougars took over in the second inning where they managed to rack up seven run scores to lead the Vikings 9-5.

WC went through five pitchers in the match but Jack Wright and Charlie Appleton were both on the mound for most of the night.

Floyd Davenport, Blake Channell and Wright all had multiple hits for WC.

The Vikings host Tupelo next Friday in the first round of the playoffs.
