WCJHS boy’s basketball team had an impressive summer

Warren Central Junior High School’s boys’ basketball team had an impressive summer under the guidance of head coach Charles Swartz.
The Vikings participated in a camp at Mississippi College last month, where the team went 6-0. Players like Xavier Jackson, Jaylen Defrance, and Jay Lee all played significant roles in the team’s success.
“The chemistry was pretty good, especially for a summer, and I think they played well considering the short amount of time they’ve been together,” Swartz said.
During that summer camp, WCJHS achieved big wins over schools like Madison Central, Pisgah, and Woolfork Middle School.
Last season, the Vikings had a successful campaign, advancing deep into the Little Six Tournament despite not being able to play in their own gym due to construction.
Swartz is entering his eighth year as head coach, with assistant coaches Kensall Batty and Victor Tyrone supporting him.
The Vikings will begin the 2023-2024 season later in the fall, expecting another promising year.
