WCJHS defeated Madison Middle School on Thursday

Warren Central Junior High boy’s basketball team took down Madison Middle School in Tallulah on Thursday.

Seventh-grade game:

The Vikings and Jaguars both started off the game relying strictly on defense. They ended the first quarter tied at 7-7. By halftime, the Vikings took a 16-9 lead and remained on top throughout the night.

Jayden Stewart led WC with 11 points, followed by Jaylen Stewart who added eight on the board. Martaveon and Jordan Pugh each contributed six. Landon Burks, Cooper Madison, and Logan Evans all finished with two points.

The Vikings went on to dominate in the second half and took home the 33-29 win.

Eighth grade game:

WC pulled off a big 40-24 win over the Jaguars with KJ Wynn and Micah Moore leading the way with 10 points on the night.

After going up 8-2 in the first quarter, the Vikings’ lead narrowed to 13-10 by halftime. They quickly got back on task in the third quarter with the help of Davon O’Neal who put up eight points. Duke Wright added five, which pushed WC’s lead to 28-16 going into the fourth quarter.

Jacob Channell hit a 3-pointer at the beginning of the fourth quarter while Nash Morgan and Derrick Gibbs finished with four points a piece. Cameron Walker also added two points and Tristan Jamison grabbed multiple rebounds.
