WCJHS defeated VJHS 38-34 on Thursday


Warren Central Junior High School boy’s basketball team handed Vicksburg Junior High their first loss of the year in a 38-34 victory.
Micah Moore got the Vikings on the board early in the game but the Gators went up 9-6 after a 3-pointer by Nick Carson.
Shots by W. Curry and J. Jones helped VJHS take an 18-14 halftime lead.
WC came out of halftime hot with Blake Caruthers and Davon O’Neal each knocking down some shots and went up 27-25 going into the fourth quarter.
Jordan Clay and Jones both got the Gators on the board in the fourth quarter, but the Vikings dominated at the free throw line with both Nash Morgan and Moore to help secure the win.
O’Neal and Caruthers both led WC with nine points and Moore added eight points. D. Gibbs put up six and Morgan added four. K. Klynn also scored two points for WC.
Carson and Clay both scored eight points for VJHS while Marlyn Foy and Jones both added seven. Curry also scored four points.
