Warren Central High School track and field runner Ashton Murphy dominated last week the Brookhaven Invitational.

The stellar athlete came in first place in both the 100 and 200 meter dash.

“I’ve been working on my start for two weeks and I’m starting to accelerate faster and I’m able to keep my position,” Murphy said. It was a little shock to me in the 100 became me and a few more guys had the same time but I always felt that I was going to come in first place in the 200.”

As the season progresses, Murphy is continuing to improve his time. He finished the 100 in 10.92 and the 200 in 22.40.

Speed seems to run in the Murphy family. Ashton’s twin brother, Aron, also did well last week.  Aron came in second place in the 300 Meter Hurdle with a time of 45.29, and fourth place in the 110 Meter Hurdle with a time of 17.74.

Aron is also highly ranked in the state in the 300 Meter Hurdles.
