WC’s boys soccer team defeats Pearl in sudden death

Warren Central High School boy’s soccer team got a district win over Pearl on Tuesday night in a 2-1 victory.

Both teams were tied at 0-0 in the first half. By the end of the second half, Brandon Gilliam scored a goal for the Vikings. The Pirates managed one goal by the end of the second half as well.

With the score remaining tied 1-1, both teams were forced to go into a penalty kick shootout. Each went 5 for 5.  Tony King, Justin King, Andy McClurg, Riley Lampkin and Gilliam all made their kicks.

The match wound up going into sudden death.

Munir Shuaibi popped it off for WC by scoring then Connor Scribner blocked Pearl’s kick to give the Vikings the win and improved their record to 6-1 under head coach Greg Head.

WC will host Clinton on Friday.
