A stolen vehicle was recovered along Interstate 20 earlier today as numerous officers worked the scene of an earlier crash.

At around 11:45 a.m. Clinton Police Department notified the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) that an officer was in pursuit of a stolen vehicle and about to cross the county line. The tag on the vehicle, a 2008 Cadillac SUV, came back as stolen out of Jackson.

Warren County deputies were staged at the exits, in case the driver decided to exit the interstate.

A few minutes before noon, units with the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the WCSO managed to stop the vehicle at the 12 mile marker, about a mile from where first responders and Highway Patrol were working the scene of an overturned 18-wheeler.

One male was detained and taken to the WCSO. The vehicle was subsequently taken to impound. Warren County authorities are in communication with the Jackson Police Department, where the vehicle was reported stolen.

No formal charges have been filed at this time. The name of the suspect was not released.
