We Don’t Need Sirens
Yesterday, I had a very good conversation with Stan Collins about Tornado Sirens. As most of you know Stan is a Candidate for District 2 Supervisor.

Yesterday, I had a very good conversation with Stan Collins about Tornado Sirens. As most of you know Stan is a Candidate for District 2 Supervisor. He called to ask my opinion on this issue.
Here is my take on this issue. Sirens are antiquated technology.
It would take well over a million dollars to adequately cover Warren County and you still would have areas with little to no coverage. Code Red is a service that costs you as a Citizen Of Warren County nothing to participate in. The cost to the taxpayers is pennies per citizen. Since this is fresh in everyone’s mind, I encourage you to join. Call Emergency Management At 601-636-1544. The couple of minutes it takes to join could save your life. Please remember this service is address-based so it will give you very specific warnings.
Also, I would encourage you to budget a little money to build a disaster bag or kit. A weather alert radio can be purchased for under $50.00. It contains a battery so it will work even without power. A battery operated radio is also a good investment. We all work together when public safety is involved. By Federal Law, Radio and Television Stations are required to have to work EAS(Emergency Alert Systems)-you frequently hear them being tested. And a good flashlight is a must. Most folks have cell phones and a power supply is a great investment. I have two that I purchased from Amazon for under 15.00 a piece. Have these items where you can easily access them.
These are just my opinions but the life you save may be your own! Have a great day and God Bless!
