We’re testing closed-captioning on our Facebook videos

A hearing-impaired reader brought an issue to our attention yesterday, and we are working to address it. How can hearing impaired and deaf people see our videos and get the news?
Effective today, we are adding closed-captioning to our videos to better serve our community, especially those with hearing impairments. Captioning will also allow you to cut the volume off and read text versions of the audio.
We are testing this software and want to hear your feedback. Please don’t expect perfection. As you know, some accents are difficult to understand, and it may require some edits to get the captions right.
To see the captions, you will need to turn them on in the video settings. (Note that captions may not be available on videos we’ve already posted, although we’ll try to get them updated, soon.)
We hope this helps in our efforts to bring our entire community the local news. We have other exciting things coming in the near future, so stay tuned.
As always, we appreciate your support. Please let us know how this feature works for you.
