Dale Armstrong, of Pearl, Miss., made his first appearance in Warren County Justice Court this afternoon, where his bond was set at $150,000. Armstrong is charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling and aggravated assault.

Armstrong is accused of forcing his way into a home in the 200 block of West Drive the morning of Sept. 2 where he shot a 49-year-old man in the chest. The victim and Armstrong knew each other, said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, calling it a “targeted attack.”

Witnesses reported seeing a light blue Kia SUV leaving the scene. From this information and information from the victim, investigators identified Armstrong as a suspect.

Pace stated that the Warren County Sheriff’s Department worked with several agencies to locate the suspect before he turned himself in to the Brandon Police Department at 6 p.m. Monday.

The victim was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. His condition is not known at this time.
