MDOT has closed the westbound lanes of I-20 at the 6 mile marker (near the Rolling Fork exit) to clear ice from the roadway.

Road conditions are highly dangerous throughout the area, and travel is not recommended unless absolutely necessary. Invisible black ice is the most problematic threat as of Wednesday, according to Deputy Chief Bobby Stewart.

Countless accidents and stalled vehicles have been reported since the winter weather moved into the area, and conditions will likely continue to deteriorate over the next couple of days.
