What’s your prediction on Mississippi’s SWAC football’s 2022 season?

As SWAC media day wrapped up on Thursday, many fans are eager for the season to begin in September. VDN would like to know your prediction on the local SWAC teams.

Mississippi has three SWAC teams: Mississippi Valley State University, Alcorn State University and Jackson State University. Each is confident about the upcoming season.

For nearly a decade straight, Alcorn has been a top contestant in the SWAC. Jackson State University is coming off a 2021 championship season.

Mississippi Valley went 4-7 last season and pulled off big wins over Alabama State and Florida A&M. Although MVSU picked up some recruits in the off-season, the SWAC predicted them to finish last in the SWAC East Division while JSU was picked to finish in first-place and ASU in second in the West.

SWAC has gained a lot of national attention over the last year with multiple athletes committing to HBCUs over bigger Universities.
