Where there’s smoke, there’s Vicksburg Fire Department

If you happen to see a great deal of black smoke coming from near North Washington Street, there is no need to become alarmed.  A monitored, controlled burn is underway.

Earlier Wednesday morning, Vicksburg Police Officer Eric Proctor located the fire while on patrol. Proctor requested that the Vicksburg Fire inspect the situation for safety reasons.

Engine 9 was dispatched to the scene of the fire on Faulk Steel Road and put a portion of the fire out. The property owner is bringing in a backhoe to assist in keeping the debris fueled fire under control.
