Will McNair and the Braves continue to dominate the SWAC?

With much of Mississippi’s football focus on the major recruits coming to Jackson State University, many SWAC football fans are wondering if defending two-time champions Alcorn State University will continue to be the top team this coming season.
The Braves have made it to the SWAC Championship every year for the past six years, and they have been the SWAC East Division champions in each one of those seasons.
Alcorn is well coached by Fred McNair who was the Braves’ assistant coach under Jay Hopson until 2016 when McNair was named the head coach. He has continued to keep Alcorn a top football program by bringing in big recruits and winning the SWAC Championship twice.
For the past six seasons, the Braves have been one of the most feared teams in SWAC football, but all eyes are now on the JSU Tigers who will be coached by former NFL star Deion Sanders.
Although the Braves have defeated the Tigers the last two years, some think it could be a different story this season due to JSU’s new leadership.
No one is 100% sure what either team will do this season, but neither McNair nor Sanders has ever been afraid of a challenge. Both men have had success in training athletes over the years.
The SWAC football season is due to kickoff in February. The Braves and Tigers will meet on April 17, 2021, at Alcorn State University where the rivalry is expected to produce a great game.
