William Michael Morgan to headline Independence Day celebration

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Country music artist and Vicksburg Native, William Michael Morgan will headline Vicksburg’s annual Independence Day celebration on July 4, returning to his hometown for a special performance as part of the city’s bicentennial year.
The event will take place in front of the Old Depot Museum at 1010 Levee Street, beginning at 7 p.m. and concluding with a fireworks show over the Mississippi River at 9 p.m.
Special appearances are scheduled by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, Miss Mississippi 2025, and Miss Mississippi’s Outstanding Teen 2025. Event organizers encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs and enjoy commemorative giveaways throughout the evening.
“This will be a great draw for the city’s bicentennial, featuring one of our hometown musicians,” said Laura Beth Strickland, executive director of Visit Vicksburg. “Vicksburg’s Independence Day is one of our biggest events of the year, with the longest show along the Mississippi River.”
Food and merchandise vendors will be set up along Washington and Levee streets.
The celebration is presented by the City of Vicksburg in partnership with Visit Vicksburg, Vicksburg Main Street, Vicksburg Convention Center, and other community sponsors, including International Paper, Bally’s Casino, Ergon, Golding Barge Line, Riverwalk Casino, Servpro, Eagle Ridge Development, Neel-Schaffer, Vicksburg Plant Food, Brown Bottling Group, Cook Tractor and The Scoop.
Additional events throughout the week include the Vicksburg Reenactment at the Old Court House Museum on June 28, Strollin’ on the Sip on July 3, and the Vicksburg Farmers Market Watermelon Volcano on July 5. Special programs will also take place at the Vicksburg National Military Park.
