Willie Bingham gets life for murder
Willie Bingham (via Hinds County Jail)

Willie Bingham has received a life sentence for killing 41-year-old Clifton Nelson in March of 2018.

Edwards Police Chief Terence Crump is Nelson’s brother and was assistant chief at the time of his death. Bingham turned himself in to authorities the day after Nelson was killed and was charged with murder and possession of a stolen firearm.

Hinds County Judge William Skinner set a $1 million bond a couple of months later, an amount that Nelson’s sister told WLBT was “fair”.

“Basically I feel the bond is fair with the charges given,” Lisa Nelson said at the time. “It’s an unfortunate situation on both sides.”
