Window for severe weather brings risk of hail, tornadoes

A window of opportunity for severe weather is likely this afternoon, bringing a significant risk of high winds, tennis ball-sized hail, heavy rain and tornadoes.

Warren County Emergency Management held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the incoming weather conditions.

At the Warren County Emergency Management meeting were officials with the City of Vicksburg, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Vicksburg Police Department, Warren County Fire Services and the Vicksburg Fire Department.

Warren County Emergency Director John Elfer states that weather conditions are expected to deteriorate between noon and 5 p.m.

“It’s just a window of opportunity for the weather,” stated Elfer. “So people need to be weather alert, pay attention to changing conditions and have more than one way to receive warnings.”

Conditions are expected to calm down around midnight.
