Woman arrested for Stadium Drive shooting

Officers with the Vicksburg Police Department have a woman in custody for a shooting that occurred Sunday on Stadium Drive.

At 8:22 p.m. Sunday, May 31, officers were dispatched to 1007 Stadium Drive. When they arrived, they found a 32-year-old male lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Police arrested Willie Mae Hardges, 33, of Vicksburg, at the scene and charged her with one count of aggravated assault – domestic violence. She will appear in Vicksburg Municipal Court Monday, June 1.

After receiving initial treatment at Merit Health River Region, the victim was transported to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. His condition is not known.
