A Brandon woman was arrested by Warren County authorities after attempting to break into a church.

Just after 7 a.m., Warren County deputies were dispatched to St. Alban’s Church in the Bovina community. A concerned citizen reported a suspicious vehicle in the church parking lot.

Deputy David Culbertson arrived at the scene within minutes and found a 2012 Chevy Volt in the parking lot, unattended with the engine running.

Located on the property was Sara Mishael Johnson, 28, of Brandon. After detaining Johnson, Deputy Culbertson discovered a shovel that appeared to be used in an attempt to pry open the back door of the church.

“It is unclear at this time what her motivation was,” said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace.

Johnson was charged with attempted burglary of a church building and a misdemeanor drug charge.

Sheriff Pace stated he anticipates Johnson to have an initial appearance in court Tuesday morning.
