Woman carjacked near Raymond in church parking lot
Hinds County deputies on Saturday continued to investigate a case of a woman who reported being carjacked in front of a church Friday evening.
The 56-year-old woman was sitting in front of a church on Bolton Raymond Road near Raymond, Miss., south of Jackson when a man walked up and asked her for help, according to police reports.
She told deputies he then opened the driver’s door and pushed her to the passenger side. The man and victim struggled for a brief time until she was able to escape the vehicle before he drove off in her car.
An initial call to emergency dispatch in Hinds County came in about 5 p.m. Friday.
The victim’s car was abandoned about a mile from the scene. A witness reportedly saw the man leaving the area in a dark Buick Roadmaster and fleeing toward Bolton, Maj. Pete Luke told WAPT 16 in Jackson.
The suspect was described as stocky and wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants. He did not display a weapon.
The victim suffered minor scratches and abrasions.
