Woman injured in scooter accident

Just before 6 p.m. Saturday, a young woman was injured while riding one of the new Blue Duck electric scooters on Walnut Street in downtown Vicksburg.

The woman indicated that the accident was due to a scooter malfunction, but the nature of the malfunction is unknown at this time.

The accident is under investigation by the Vicksburg Police Department, according to Chief Milton Moore.

The woman was transported by a Vicksburg Fire Medic Unit to Merit Health River Region for evaluation. She is alert and oriented. Her injuries appear to be minor.
