A Vicksburg woman was arrested by officers with the Vicksburg Police Department after crashing into an embankment and leading police on a chase.
At 4:20 p.m., a call came into the 911 call center of a vehicle accident on James E. Stirgus at Alma hitting the embankment. The vehicle then left the scene of the accident and traveled to the park in Marcus Bottom. The vehicle was then observed backing out of the park and traveling south on Halls Ferry.
The vehicle then turned west onto Marcus, south on Yerger, then west on Bowmar where an unmarked VPD unit attempted to stop the vehicle with lights and a siren.
The gray Nissan Altima continued west on Bowmar failing to yield to the lights and sirens. The Nissan continued west on Bowmar and then south on Letitia, staying on it as it turned into Valley Street and then Ave. C, turning south at Arcadia and then east on Ave. D, where it finally stopped.
The driver was taken into custody without incident. Two bottles were pulled from the vehicle and put on the top of the vehicle prior to the suspect being taken to the police station.
