Wreck on Hawkins Road at Halls Ferry causes power outage and traffic delays

A single vehicle accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday on Hawkins Road near the intersection with Halls Ferry Road.

Traffic is backed up as officials work to clear the scene. Motorists are encouraged to take an alternate route if possible.

Initial reports indicate there were no serious injuries in the wreck; however, damage to a power line has created an outage for the Hawkins/Halls Ferry area near ERDC all the way to U.S. Highway 61 South.

Traffic lights should be treated as a four-way-stop until the repairs are complete.
