WWE great Rocky Johnson dead at 75
World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Famer Rocky Johnson passed away yesterday at the age of 75.
At age 16, Johnson moved to Toronto to train as a boxer, with dreams of fighting greats such as Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. Although Johnson wanted to be a boxer, he would soon find his calling as a wrestler, joining the WWE in the 1980s.
Johnson is the father of wrestler and actor Dewayne “The Rock” Johnson. His son inducted Rocky Johnson into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008.
Rocky Johnson was tag-team partners with Tony Atlas. Johnson and Atlas, The Soul Patrol, were the first African American tag-team champions.
The cause of Johnson’s death has not been released.
