Yavette “YaYa” Mitchell

A Celebration of Life for Yavette “YaYa” Mitchell will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 21 at Hawkins United Methodist Church in Vicksburg, MS.

Yavette passed Monday, May 9 at the University Medical Center after battling cancer. She was 57 years old.

Yavette is survived by her husband Mark S. Mitchell.

Yavette was preceded in death by her grandparents, Barbara Pritchard, Chillis Hodges and Anna B. Hodges, in-laws George Mitchell and Lillian Mitchell, sister-in-law Debbie Gamblin, brother-in-law Tom McCollum and a niece Ashleigh Mitchell.

Yavette was a proud wife, daughter, granddaughter, mother, step-mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by her husband Mark, her parents Larry and Judy Pritchard, grandfather, Charles Pritchard, two children, Renee Adams (Ryan) and Jason McMaster (Lauren); two step- children, B’La Mitchell and Michael Slade Mitchell; one sister Leigh Hamilton (Jerry), one brother Brian Pritchard, niece Tori Hamilton, sister-in-law Cheryl McCollum and brother-in-law Mickey Mitchell.

YaYa is survived by four grandchildren; Caleb Adams, Mason Adams, KaLeah Mitchell-Moore and Hallee Mitchell-Moore.

Yavette is also survived by her Good Shepherd family – Cindy McCarley and staff.

Yavette spent her life dedicated to her family and the community, which was her LOVE. She served as an Administrative Assistant at the Warren County Children’s Shelter and was currently serving as the Executive Assistant at Good Shepherd Community Center. She also, served many other charitable and non-profit organizations.

Yavette “YaYa” will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Yavette’s legacy will be carried on through her selfless act of donating her body to science, with medical researchers and educators who help to improve the quality of life for all of us.
Yavette “YaYa” infectious smile will always be a reminder of the bright light she projected in everyone.
