Yazoo City middle school unveils new state-of-the-art fitness center
Woolfolk Middle School in Yazoo City is one of the three Mississippi schools chosen by the multi-million dollar DON’T QUIT! Campaign for demonstrating leadership in helping students stay healthy and fit. Jefferson County Junior High School in Fayette and McLaurin Attendance Center in Florence were also chosen to receive the state-of-the-art fitness centers.
The DON’T QUIT! Campaign is spearheaded by fitness icon Jake Steinfeld through the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils (NFGFC). By collaborating with sponsors, donors and governors, Steinfeld and the NFGFC have gifted over 100,000 fitness centers to students across 36 states since 2012.
“I’m grateful to Jake and his entire team for their focus on instilling healthy habits in our young people,” Gov. Tate Reeves said. “Their hard work and dedication are helping provide crucial building blocks for our Mississippi kids to become healthy adults. I am proud that Mississippi is able to participate in this wonderful initiative!”
The fitness centers are financed through public and private partnerships with leading companies like The Coca-Cola Company, Amerigroup Foundation and Nike. The program does not rely on any taxpayer dollars or state funding, and all the fitness equipment is manufactured in the United States.
