Yazoo County authorities are investigating a mass shooting

The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident that occurred at a Yazoo County night club “Big Mickie’s” on Martin Luther King right outside the city limits around midnight, moving into Saturday.

Investigators are still attempting to verify exactly how many people were wounded by gunfire, but it is believed to be as many as six people. Numerous others sustained lacerations from broken glass as they fell in the parking lot, fleeing for safety.

Yazoo Chief Investigator Terry Gann told the Yazoo Herald that many of the injured sought treatment in Canton and Jackson.

Many of the injured left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. Investigators are working to determine the exact number of those involved and the extent of their injuries.
