24 local graduates awarded $12,000 in scholarships at VHBC banquet

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Twenty-four local graduates were awarded scholarships totaling $12,000 at the Vicksburg Homecoming Benevolent Club Ceremony last Saturday. Each recipient received their scholarship from various organizations represented at the event.

Scholarship recipients include: Cynia Johnson (Grant Jones Jr. Memorial), Fredrick Miller Jr. (Pearl Connection), Donovan Taylor (Eugene & Jessie Lee Stevens Memorial), Jayla Theriot (V.H.C.B.), Ma’Kynzie Dunmore (Courtanya Ferguson), Alexia Smothers (Dolores Thomas Bullock), Jaylon Winters (Pearl Connection), Anthony McCloud (James & Gayelord Carpenter), Cameron Pollard (Sheriff Martin Pace Youth Leadership), Shanequia Miller (Annie Chiles Memorial), Anitra Calvin (Derrick Stamps Jr. Memorial), Mercedes Daniel (Gladys Ferguson & Brig. Gen. Robert Crear), Stephen Anderson Jr. (Mozella Flaggs Memorial), Robert Evans (Gladys Ferguson & Brig. Gen. Robert Crear), Taliyah Curry (Rosa Lee Shield Memorial), Trinity McGloster (Markeda Mims Memorial), Cameron Nailor (Willie and Fannie Glasper Sr.), Ke’Sean Smith (Barry and Laura Holden Lewis Memorial), Ty’Rhiana Jeffery (Rosa Lee Shields Memorial), Erin Watson (Leroy and Jessie Lee Terrell Memorial), Jannah Archer (Booker T. Wilson Memorial), Shiem Lott (Omar & Melanie Nelson), Amiyah Montgomery (Zelmarine Anderson Murphy & Patricia Anderson Segrest Memorial), and Mincer Minor IV (Theresa P. Williams Memorial).

The Vicksburg Homecoming Benevolent Club Banquet was held last Saturday at the Vicksburg Convention Center and marked the club’s 50th anniversary.
