VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Grab your pocketbooks and get ready for the 28th annual Jammin’ for the Kids here in Vicksburg. Each year the event proceeds serve under privileged children in Vicksburg and Warren County.

Enjoy live music, a raffle and silent auction all to benefit children in Warren County. The event is set for Thursday, Dec. 11, at The Biscuit, 610 Grove Street in Vicksburg beginning at 6 p.m.

Event cofounder and organizer Kemper Ehrhardt, a lifelong resident of Vicksburg, said everything about it is local.

“We serve under privileged children, and 100% of the money goes to children in Vicksburg and Warren County. Also 100% of the items are donated, and 100% of the volunteers give up their time so there’s no overhead. 100% of the money stays here in Vicksburg,” he said.

Ehrhardt said each year the event gets bigger.

“We’ve outgrown every venue over the past 28 years because of people opening their hearts and wanting to come and support children who would not have Christmas if it were not for this event,” he said. “We will be selling raffle tickets, have a silent auction and food and beverages will also be available.”

The cost is only five dollars or a new unwrapped toy to get into the event.

“We’ve kept it at that price so that anybody can attend,” Ehrhardt said.

The campaign has caught the attention of major contributors from across the state including a group called the Spirit Riders.

“The Spirit Riders have been a major part of making contributions since they picked our event up. They only donate to three events a year, even though they raise money throughout the entire year,” said Ehrhardt.
