4-year-old child of a Vicksburg Firefighter went missing from Redwood School

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A child who turned 4 in August went missing from Redwood Elementary, but was found safe playing in the mud at a creek behind the school.
According to the boy’s grandmother, Misty Sellers, the boy went missing during an outside recess. He slipped through an opening in the fence on the property, went around a 30-foot drop, and ended up on the bank of a creek behind the school, playing in the mud.
“I’m just glad it hasn’t been raining,” said Sellers. “My daughter-in-law told me the child was missing for about an hour.” Seller’s son, Noah Nielsen, is a Vicksburg Firefighter and was at the scene. “My son went down and got him. When I saw Noah, he was wet from head to toe and covered in mud. He was visibly upset. I’ve never seen him like that.”
According to the grandmother, the child is at home and is uninjured from the escapade.
The Vicksburg Warren School District confirmed the incident and issued a statement saying, “A Redwood Elementary Student was briefly unaccounted for during recess but was found safe and unharmed.”
