Third suspect arrested in Vicksburg homicide

VICKSBURG, Miss.(VDN) — A 19-year-old has been arrested in connection with a February homicide in Vicksburg.

Johntavis Devonte Williams has been charged in the killing of Jaylon Walker, a native of Claiborne County, who was shot and killed Feb. 11 on Highway 61 South.

In a release, the Vicksburg Police Department said, “at approximately 11:16 p.m. on February 11, 2026, officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to an E-911 call involving a male individual along Highway 61 South near Demby Drive who was reported to have suffered a gunshot wound.”

Williams is the third suspect arrested in the case and also faces a charge of drive-by shooting.

Earlier this week, on Sunday, 18-year-olds Arkeyveion Stamps and Quintin Wilson were taken into custody by the Kokomo Police Department in Indiana.

All three suspects have been issued a $1.1 million bond.
