One shot on MLK Boulevard
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — On May 19, 2026 around 1:15 a.m., officers of the Vicksburg Police Department responded to the 1900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in reference to a shots fired call.
While on scene, officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop. Upon contact, officers discovered a black male suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot. Officers requested emergency medical services, and the victim was transported to the hospital. The injury is considered non-life-threatening.
Shortly afterward, officers responded to McDonald’s on Clay Street, where another black male reported that his vehicle had been struck by gunfire while he was driving through the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The driver of the vehicle reported no injuries.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
