City Cinema still waiting on inspection
City Cinema still waiting on health inspection before an opening date for the theater located in Vicksburg’s Mall can be announced.
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Residents of Warren County will have to wait a little longer to enjoy the refurbished City Cinema in Vicksburg’s Mall as the health inspection was postponed until Friday, July 10.
Originally, co-owner Andres Thomas said the inspection from the Health Department would be Friday, June 26, but announced later the department had rescheduled the inspection.
The theatre company will not stop at just renovating the theater. Since the City Cinema company is also a construction group, the crew will also tackle renovating the entire mall located at 3505 Pemberton Square Blvd in Vicksburg.
In a social media post, the company said they have 15 years experience with cinemas and construction.
“First step will be repairing the roof across almost the entirety of the malls main corridors and over several of the stores that consistently have issues with leaks. Long term we will also be working with stores in the mall to do repairs inside and to their own facades,” said a social media post from the company.
The same post also state the mall was an asset to the community.
“We think the mall is a great focal point of entertainment, dining, shopping, and community, but she needs to be restored in a major way and we are going to play an important part in doing so,” said the release.
As soon as the company completes the inspections from the city, there will be a confirmed opening date released.
