Billie Ruth McDaniel Crabtree: 1934-2025

VICKSBURG, Miss. — Billie Ruth McDaniel Crabtree, 91, was welcomed into her heavenly home in eternity on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and follower of Jesus. Billie loved Jesus, her family, and her church, in that order.
Billie was raised in Silas, Alabama, and moved to Mississippi with her husband, Andrew, when they were wed in 1953. After moving to Vicksburg, they lived at Long Lake until the flood caused them to move to Warrenton Road. Billie loved living on Warrenton Road near her sister-in-law, Sarah Wigley, and her husband, Wilbur, for nearly 40 years.
After moving to Warrenton Road, Billie and Andrew joined Immanuel Baptist Church. Billie served in many capacities at Immanuel and was dedicated to the body of believers until her health no longer permitted her to attend. She loved her church family dearly.
Nine years ago, she moved across town to be closer to family, and she loved every minute of living next door to the people she loved.
Billie is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew; her sisters, Priscilla and Noel; and her brothers, Charles (Bunk), Marty, and Tommy (Bud).
She is survived by her son, Billy Crabtree (Carol) of Vicksburg, MS, and Leita Reichle (Kyle) of Monroe, Virginia. In addition, she is survived by her three grandchildren: Lyndzie McCullough (Wayne) of Vicksburg, Jonathan Crabtree (Kristina) of Enterprise, MS, and Austin Crabtree of Vicksburg, MS; and her four great-grandchildren: Landon McCullough, Danika Crabtree, Jon Andrew Crabtree, and Rudy Crabtree. She also loved her numerous nieces and nephews and extended family in Mississippi and Alabama.
Billie loved her family deeply, and it radiated from her smile when she talked about them to everyone she would meet.
Services will be on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Brumfield and Rev. Dr. Jonathan Crabtree officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Flora Cemetery in Flora, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be Austin Crabtree, Jonathan Crabtree, Wayne McCullough, Landon McCullough, Micael Edwards, Anthony Edwards, and Stanley McCullough. Honorary pallbearers are the nurses and CNAs of Heritage House Nursing Home, Joyce Clingan, Kenny D. and the staff of Walnut Hills Restaurant, Mr. Mickey Flowers of Heritage House Nursing Home, and the members of her Sunday school class at Immanuel Baptist Church.
The family would like to especially thank Immanuel Baptist Church and the deacons; Bro. Billy Brumfield; Mrs. Joyce Hubbard; Mrs. Reed Andrews; Heritage House Nursing Home; Mrs. Hannah Masterson; Mrs. Kay Luttrell; Dr. Lara Clement; Dr. Lee Giffin; Mrs. Lula Cogan; and the numerous friends who visited her during her final days on this earth.
