Career Program for Minority Youth to be held Jan. 28

VICKSBURG, Miss. – Parents of male minority youth interested in workforce development and students in grades 6 through 11 are invited to a Mentoring and Career Program at the Vicksburg Warren School District Meeting Room on January 28 starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Mentoring and Career Program, sponsored by Future Kings, a not-for-profit organization, the City of Vicksburg, and Hinds Community College, will provide information on several career path opportunities.

The topics include:

  • Cybersecurity
  • Workplace protocols
  • Financial management
  • Presentation skills
  • Employability skills
    •Industry Certifications: Participants can earn certifications to prepare for gainful employment.
    •Real-Life Experience: Engage in virtual internships to apply learned skills.
    •Year-Round Engagement: Two Saturday sessions per month (9:30 AM – 1:30 PM) and summer camps.

Since 2010, Future Kings has been serving boys of color from economically challenged communities. They are a unique, year-long afterschool educational program that guides young men in grades 6-12 from underserved communities to explore exciting career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
