VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — An elementary age school child walked away from Warrenton Elementary School on Belva Drive until alert employees at Hillcress Service Center rescued him.

This morning, the Vicksburg Warren School District had another child walk away from one of their educational facilities. The unidentified child was only described as an elementary school age child who was unharmed.

“They must of walked up Highway 61 from Warrenton Elementary to our service center,” said business owner Donnie Whitehead. “The child said they wanted us to take them to Wal-Mart.”

Vicksburg police were first alerted to the lost child by Whitehead. “They didn’t know anything about a missing kid,” said Whitehead.

Several people from Warrenton showed up to retrieve the child according to Whitehead.

The Principal at Warrenton was unavailable and we left a message.

District personnel said they were in a meeting and would call the Vicksburg Daily News back.
