Claiborne County man killed in Vicksburg shooting

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — A shooting incident led to a person crashing their vehicle on 61 South last night and one person has been pronounced dead.

In a release, the Vicksburg Police Department said, “at approximately 11:16 p.m. on February 11, 2026, officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to an E-911 call involving a male individual along Highway 61 South near Demby Drive who was reported to have suffered a gunshot wound.”

Officers located the individual, identified as Jaylon Walker of Hermanville, Mississippi, inside a vehicle. Mr. Walker was pronounced deceased at the scene.
