Warren County residents will have the opportunity to safely dispose of their household hazardous waste at the upcoming collection day event. Sponsored by the Warren County Board of Supervisors and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, the event aims to promote environmental consciousness and responsible waste management within the community.
The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 3, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sherman Ave School parking lot, conveniently located at 2145 Sherman Avenue.
During the collection day, individuals are encouraged to bring various household hazardous items that require special disposal measures. Accepted materials include batteries, used motor oil, antifreeze, insecticides, aerosols, acids, flammable liquids, paint, computer equipment, L.P. cylinders, TVs, fluorescent light bulbs, and ammunition.
In addition to the hazardous waste collection, non-hazardous materials will also be accepted. Residents can bring metals such as appliances, brass, aluminum, copper, steel, and bi-metal cans. Tires will also be collected to ensure their proper disposal and recycling.
For individuals concerned about the security of their personal information, document shredding services will be provided. However, it is important to note that all staples, paper clips, and metal objects must be removed prior to shredding.
Residents seeking further information about the event are encouraged to contact the Warren County Board of Supervisors at 601-634-8073.
