William “Bill” Sims Foundation to hold “Lest We Forget” ceremony honoring fallen heroes

Date & Time: March 11, 2023 12:00 pm - March 11, 2023 12:00 pm
Vicksburg National Cemetery

The William “Bill” Sims Foundation, an organization established by descendants of former Civil War veterans, is set to present a “Lest We Forget” ceremony on Saturday, Mar. 11 at noon. The ceremony will take place on the grounds of the Vicksburg National Cemetery, where a large number of United States Colored Troops (USCT) are being disinterred from their burial sites in the cemetery’s multi-phased project.

The Freedom Fighters – soldiers and all fallen heroes whose lives were lost in the Civil War – will be honored at this solemn occasion. The ceremony is a tribute to their bravery, sacrifice, and service to our country.

The Vicksburg National Cemetery can be reached directly by taking 4-B to Clay Street, then continuing on Clay St. to Cherry St. and making a right turn. Continue until the Cemetery entrance.

The “Lest We Forget” ceremony is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by our brave men and women in the service of our country.
