Free Live Music is coming to Downtown
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — The Levitt AMP Vicksburg Music Series presented by Mutual Credit Union is coming to downtown Vicksburg with a series of free outdoor concerts at Washington Street Park.
In a press release, the local group organizing the event said:
“Powered by a prestigious grant from the Levitt Foundation, the series will feature 9 concerts each fall showcasing an exciting lineup of local, regional, and national artists performing original music. The initiative is part of a national effort to activate public spaces and bring communities together through the power of live music.
“Being selected as a Levitt AMP grant recipient places Vicksburg on a national stage and creates new opportunities for our community to come together in meaningful ways,” said Shelley Tingle, organizer of the Levitt AMP Vicksburg Music Series. “This series is about more than music. It is about creating a welcoming space where people of all backgrounds can gather, connect, and experience the energy of downtown Vicksburg.”
Chris Rials, co-organizer, emphasized the broader impact of the series. “We are excited to bring a diverse range of artists and original music to Vicksburg while also supporting our local businesses and showcasing what makes our city special. This is an investment in community life and in the future of our downtown.”
The Levitt Foundation recently announced 34 nonprofits across the country selected to receive Levitt Music Series grants. Each recipient will receive up to 120,000 dollars in matching funds over three years
from 2026 through 2028 to present up to 10 free concerts annually. The selected communities represent a diverse cross section of America, ranging from small towns like Bath, Maine and Parkston, South Dakota to cities like Vicksburg, Mississippi and major metropolitan areas including Austin, Miami, and St. Louis.
2026 Tentative Concert Dates Include:
- June 19 *Art Installation and Juneteenth Celebration
- October 2 through October 4 in collaboration with Hipstoric Arts

November 7 *Porchfest After Party
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, gather with friends and family, and enjoy live music under the open sky while exploring downtown restaurants, shops, and attractions.
