Jefferson County Seniors Make Academic History at Copiah-Lincoln Community College

Press Release from JCSD:
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Miss.(JCSD)—Earlier Thursday, our outstanding seniors from Jefferson County High School crossed a college commencement stage with Associate of Arts Degrees from Copiah-Lincoln Community College—a historic moment and the largest cohort in school history to reach this extraordinary milestone.
This achievement is more than a celebration of academic success. It represents the unwavering commitment of Jefferson County School District to expand access, break down barriers, and position our students for excellence beyond high school.
Nearly 50% of the Class of 2025 (48.3%) has participated in dual enrollment courses through our strong partnerships with Copiah-Lincoln Community College and Alcorn State University—a record-setting accomplishment that reflects our district’s vision to prepare every student for college, career, and life.
The impact of this initiative cannot be overstated. These scholars are graduating high school not only with a diploma but also with a degree—saving their families thousands of dollars in tuition, fast-tracking their college journey, and giving them a competitive edge in an ever-changing world.
This is more than a win for our district—it is a win for our entire community. It is a powerful example of what is possible when students are given the opportunity to dream, the support to grow, and the resources to achieve.
At Jefferson County School District, we believe in the brilliance of our scholars and the power of partnerships to transform lives. Today’s celebration is a shining reflection of what happens when education becomes a true game-changer.
Congratulations to the trailblazing scholars of the Class of 2025—you are making history, and we are so proud of you!
