Leotis “Uncle Buck” Stanford: 1938-2025

VICKSBURG, Miss. — Leotis “Uncle Buck” Stanford, a Vicksburg resident, passed away on Monday, September 1, in Merit Health River Region Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 87. He was a retired long-haul truck driver and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Lucy Beck Stanford Sr.; his brothers, Roscoe Stanford, Jessie Stanford Jr., Frank Stanford, Malcom (Bob) Stanford, John D. Stanford, and George Stanford; and his sisters, Katie Grant, Martha Goodman, Annie Lee Hannah, Lillie Mae Stanford, Fannie Goodman, Mary Lee Stanford, and Beatrice Lawson.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Gloria Stanford; his son, Richard Broadway; Herman Brooks; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends and relatives.
Services are to be held on Monday, September 8, in the chapel of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m., with Rev. Malcom Goodman officiating. Viewing and graveside services are to be held on Saturday, September 13, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at Redmond Funeral Home, 442 N. Broadway St., Greenville, with Rev. Kevin Albert officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Wood Cemetery in Greenville.
