Mississippi DA slams anti-ICE DA coalition

HERNANDO, Miss. (VDN) — District Attorney Matthew Barton released the following statement regarding cooperation between local law enforcement and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE):

“Across the country, Soros-funded and progressive district attorneys are actively forming political coalitions to attack federal agents and prevent ICE from enforcing the law.

Let me be perfectly clear: that agenda will never take root here.

My office maintains a strong, professional, and effective working relationship with federal partners, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

That partnership works. It has led to the safe, orderly deportation of criminal illegal aliens, many sitting in our jail on very serious charges.

Cooperation between local leaders and ICE is the best way to protects victims, officers, and our community.

But somehow, liberal prosecutors, mayors, and governors want you to believe that refusing to work with ICE makes their communities safer. It doesn’t. Just like refusing to prosecute criminals doesn’t.

If these Soros-funded prosecutors spent less time attacking federal agents and more time holding criminals accountable, maybe their streets wouldn’t look the way they do today.

As for DeSoto County, my office will continue to enforce the law, protect victims, and work with our partners in law enforcement, including ICE.

There is a reason Mississippi streets do not look like Minnesota streets, and that’s because this is working.”
