Park recovering after winter storm
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — According to reports the Vicksburg National Military Park is rebounding from the winter storm that hit the area last month.
In a release, the Friends of Vicksburg National Military Park said the area was cleared of fallen debris caused by the ice storm.
“Thanks to the quick response of our dedicated crews and partners, 10 fallen trees were safely cleared from the tour road at Vicksburg National Military Park following the recent winter storm. This important work helped restore safe access for visitors and ensured that the park could reopen key areas as quickly as possible,” stated the release.
FVNMP stressed the importance of community support.
“Storm recovery is a vital part of preserving the park we all cherish. From keeping roadways passable to protecting historic landscapes, these behind-the-scenes efforts allow VNMP to remain welcoming and accessible year-round. Thank you to everyone who helped make this swift recovery possible,” said the group.
