Pete Joseph (“Rocky”) Nosser III
VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Pete Joseph (“Rocky”) Nosser III passed away peacefully at St. Dominic Hospital on February 3, 2026. Rocky was born in Vicksburg on May 4, 1950, the eldest of four children born to Pete Joseph Nosser, Jr., and Ouida Warner Nosser.
Rocky graduated from H. V. Cooper High School in 1968, where he served on the student council and was known as an intelligent, well-respected leader among his peers. He went on to attend the University of Mississippi, where he graduated with a business degree and was a proud member of the Pi Kappa Alpha (PIKE) Fraternity.
Following college, Rocky returned home to Vicksburg to work in the family business at Jitney Jungle, and later at Beechwood Restaurant and Lounge, which has been a Nosser family business and a Vicksburg staple for nearly 70 years. A hardworking businessman, Rocky owned Beechwood Restaurant and Lounge for more than 30 years. Throughout those years, he worked tirelessly to make Beechwood the successful and thriving restaurant it is today and cherished the opportunity to work side by side with his beloved nephew, Will Hood.
Rocky was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church and was deeply involved in his community. He coached YMCA Little League football and Little League basketball, generously giving his time to mentor and encourage young people.
Rocky was loved by his family, friends, employees, and customers, and he made everyone feel welcome and valued. A known jokester and prankster, he enjoyed spending time with friends at his camp, “Camp Showtime,” watching Monday night football at the Beechwood, hunting, fishing, and helping people whenever they needed it. Though he will be missed deeply, his legacy will live on through Beechwood Restaurant and the countless lives he touched.
He is survived by his sister, Leigh Ann Nosser; his nephews, William Allen Hood (Holley) and Regan Nosser (Clovis); his great-niece, Kathryn Buchanan Simrall Hood; and numerous cousins and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete Joseph Nosser, Jr., and Ouida Warner Nosser; his paternal grandparents, Pete Joseph Nosser, Sr., and Bessie Nosser; his maternal grandparents, Clair and Bessie Roberts Warner; his brother, David Joseph “Rowdy” Nosser; his sister, Daria Nosser Hood; his brother-in-law, William Allen Hood; and his great-niece, Caroline McCollum Simrall Hood.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Glenwood Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at 11:00 a.m. The service will be officiated by Dr. Bob Ford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Nasif, Blake Nasif, John Morgan Mims, Vaughn Mims, Peter Mims, Paul David Mims, Johnny Mims, Hunter McRight, John Hunter McRight, Bill McRight III (“Little Bill”), Charles Toney, Rusty Larsen, and Gary Thomas. Honorary Pallbearers: Walter Armstrong, Leon Parker, Johnny Pete McRight, Larry McRight, Billy Joe Dottley, and the staff of Beechwood Restaurant and Lounge.
