Savage, Watson crowned Miss and Mr. Port Gibson High School

PORT GIBSON, Miss. (VDN) — D’Erriyah Savage and Kyjaiyeyn “Street-Clothes” Watson have been named Miss and Mr. Port Gibson High School. The two were crowned Wednesday night during the school’s annual coronation ceremony.
Savage is recognized as an exceptional young woman whose warm spirit, radiant personality, and unwavering determination set her apart as a true leader among her peers. The daughter of Derrick and Ollie Savage, she has grown into a young lady who embodies grace, resilience, and balance. Whether she is showcasing her school spirit as a cheerleader, enjoying lighthearted moments on TikTok, or creating lasting memories with family and friends, she approaches life with joy and purpose.

Her commitment to academic and personal excellence is evident in her involvement in various organizations. A proud member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society, Savage has demonstrated dedication to scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Her participation in JROTC reflects not only discipline and leadership but also her passion for science and leadership development. She also serves as a CTE Ambassador, representing her peers with distinction, and participates in TRIO, gaining mentorship and experiences shaping her future.
Looking ahead, Savage plans to continue her education and pursue a career in the United States Air Force. With ambition and determination, she dreams of making a lasting impact by serving her country and inspiring others to pursue excellence with courage and conviction. She attributes her success to the love and guidance of her parents, who have instilled in her perseverance, discipline, faith, and integrity.
Watson, the youngest of two children, developed an early appreciation for hard work and problem-solving by spending time with his father learning the intricacies of automotive repair. That exposure sparked a lifelong passion for mechanics and engineering that continues to guide his academic and career goals.

At Port Gibson High, Watson has distinguished himself as both a scholar and athlete. He is an active member of the National Technical Honor Society, National Honor Society, and Technology Student Association, where he consistently demonstrates leadership, teamwork, and intellectual curiosity. In addition to his academic pursuits, he is a dedicated athlete, representing the Port Gibson Blue Waves on both the football and baseball teams.
Beyond the classroom and field, Watson enjoys activities that reflect his inquisitive nature and hands-on approach to learning, such as reading about automotive and engineering topics, listening to music, and exploring advancements in mechanical and technological systems. His ability to balance academics, extracurriculars, and personal interests showcases his discipline, commitment, and drive for excellence.
Watson plans to pursue higher education in engineering with a focus on aerospace. His long-term goal is to earn a master’s degree in aerospace engineering, combining his passion for mechanics with research and innovation in aviation and space exploration. With his strong foundation in academics, leadership, and technical skills, he is well-positioned to make meaningful contributions to engineering and inspire others through his achievements.
