Sue Holaday Atkins Flathau

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Sue Holaday Atkins Flathau passed away Sunday, Nov., in her home.  

Flathau was born in Yazoo, Miss., on Sept. 27, 1937. She was the daughter of Wade Dow Holaday and Winifred Holaday. Flathau lived in Vicksburg for 50 years, as a devoted wife to Parker Atkins Sr. and mother to her three sons: Parker Atkins Jr., Tim Atkins, and David Atkins. Many years later, she married William “Bill” Flathau. They spent many wonderful years together.

Flathau is proceeded in death by Wade Dow Holaday (father), Winifred Watson Holaday (mother), Parker Atkins Sr. (husband), David Atkins (son), and William “Bill” Flathau (husband). 

She is survived by her two children, Tim Atkins and Parker Atkins Jr.; her step son Jeff Flathau (Heather) ; her grandchildren Kandice Munn (Michel), Amy Hodges (Jay), Michael Atkins (Ali), and Ryan Atkins (Madisyn); great grandchildren Charleigh Munn, Delcie Munn, Addie Lea Hodges, Wesley Atkins, and Amelie Atkins; step great grandchildren Tyler Flathau, Hannah Flathau, and Heath Flathau; Sister Gayle Earnest (Lynn).

Flathau dedicated her life to being a loving wife, mother, and Grandma. She loved spending time with family and making memories. She was a faithful servant to the Lord. She loved traveling to evangelistic conventions and spending time in the word. Those who knew her saw her devotion to her faith. 

Flathau will be deeply missed, but her family finds peace knowing she is with the Lord.  

Visitation will be held at Triumph Church in Vicksburg, Miss. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, from 11 a.m. to noon. Services will follow led by Pastor Mike Fields and Betty Love. Burial will be held at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. 

Pallbearers include David Haulman, Jim Martin, Michel Munn, Ryan Atkins, Micheal Atkins, Gary Dykes.
